Turned and sculpted from a single large piece of redwood
heart wood the piece dramatically captures the humpback whales swimming
beneath the sea. The humpbacks pass Monterey Bay twice a year on their migration
between Baja California and Alaska. The humpbacks in the piece are scorched
with a torch to give them contrast.
